| ANTHOLOGY ANNOUNCEMENT REQUEST FOR MANUSCRIPTS [Tom Bull (author of ON THE EDGE OF DEAF CULTURE: HEARING CHILDREN/DEAF PARENTS ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY, 1998, DFR PRESS) is now soliciting memoirs from deaf parents with hearing children as well as memoirs from hearing children with deaf parents (codas/kodas) from around the world. Memoirs will be published as an anthology.] All of us (codas, kodas, deaf parents with hearing children) have a story to tell and very few of them are in print. There are a great many wonderful stories about our experiences that have yet to be told. Now is the time for the world to see them and hear us in our own words. An anthology of writings by codas, kodas and deaf parents (of kodas/codas) is being compiled for publication. These autobiographical memoirs can be in the form of poetry, short story, anecdote, performance piece, vignette, essay, etc. You may submit these stories in ASL on videotape to be transcribed. Articles in "coda-talk" are also welcome. This is an anthology of signposts and experiences along the way of our journey blending hearing and Deaf cultures in our own and unique ways. The scope of subject matter is comprehensive and will include stories from and about infancy, childhood, adolescence, and the stages of adulthood. Manuscripts of 500-3000 words are invited with a special interest in a diversity of experiences including African-American, Latino-Latina, Asian-Pacific Islander, Native American and stories from around the world. Please send to Tom Bull, DFR (Deaf Family Research) Press, Questions or send as attachments in Word Perfect or MS Word: Thank you - Tom Bull |
