| Watermelon is “Being-towards-the-end” as are we all, with the profound acknowledgement of her finiteness. She has therefore accepted the absurdity of life and meaning and has focused on enjoying every goddamn minute of it, regardless of prohibitions. Socrates one said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” The more Watermelon examines it the funnier it gets. Henceforth, she has rejected censorship and is not suitable for everybody. Those she is suitable for grow larger everyday. Love her or leave her that is her motto for indifference is death to the artist. (Watermelon also likes to refer to herself in the third person at times). Susanna Uchatius is the writer/director of UGLY which is now on at the Fringe. She is the artistic director of Theatre Terrific Society, Western Canada’s oldest theatre company for people with disabilities. |
